Frequently Asked

What should I wear to my first Pole or Aerial class?

FOR POLE, you will need your skin to grip the pole! Participants should wear shorts or swimsuit bottoms and a tank top or sports bra underneath their warm-up clothes (it can be chilly in the studio). Leggings are OK, but certain moves like climbing the pole will be much more difficult with leggings on.  You can also purchase special sticky leggings online that are made specifically for pole. Please, no hand/body moisturizer or oils on the night before/morning of pole class - it will make you and the pole slippery! Pole can be done barefoot, or in socks or dance shoes (no heels yet, please!). Please remove all bracelets, rings, necklaces, anklets, and watches before class; these items can pinch your skin as well as scratch the poles. Long hair should be tied back so that it stays out of your face.

FOR AERIAL, it's best to wear footless leggings and a shirt that covers your armpits and midriff. Avoid baggy clothes that can get caught or tangled. Please remove all jewelry before class. Sharp or jagged nails and hangnails should be clipped or filed down before class as they can cause runs in the nylon fabrics.

Remember to bring your water bottle and to stay hydrated before and after class!

What's your mask/vaccination policy and Covid-19 protocol?

Proof of vaccination is not required to participate in classes at Heart & Pole; however, the mask policy for any given class is at the instructor's discretion. Please cooperate with your instructor's mask policy, if they have one. If you are unable to wear a mask for any reason, please be mindful of social-distancing. Exercise can be strenuous, so masks may need to be removed at times. If you would like to know the mask policy for a class, please email heartandpolestudio@gmail.com. Studio equipment (poles, mats, etc.) is sanitized frequently with isopropyl alcohol. Aerial yoga hammocks, blankets, cushions, and other soft materials are machine-washed regularly and sanitized with steam or fabric sanitizer between classes. Students are responsible for sanitizing shared equipment between users during class. We ask that participants please not come to class if they are sick or believe they have been exposed to Covid-19. If you believe you unknowingly had Covid-19 and came to a class, please contact us immediately so that we can respond accordingly. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support during this challenging time.

Can I do Pole/Aerial while pregnant?

Lots of people are able to safely continue their pole/aerial practice while pregnant; however, you should still consult with your doctor or midwife first. It's not recommended to try pole or aerial for the first time if you are currently pregnant. â€‹
